Jiten Raval (Managing Director) – First Line Pharma, Hemel Hempstead

FLP began in 1981 as a community-based pharmacy, Nash Chemists. In 2012 Firstline Pharmacy Limited incorporated Nash Chemists whilst retaining the latter’s trading name; obtaining their Wholesaler Distribution Authorisation the following year.

In 2018 FLP launched the new trading name of their dedicated pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution operation, Firstline Pharma. Today their senior management team has, combined, over 30 years of experience in the sector.

Their professionalism has won the trust of clients around the world and seen FLP expand rapidly, yet they retain the local, small-company approach that means every customer is treated as an individual.

The Challenge / Requirement

FLP invested heavily in refurbishing their Hemel Hempstead facility to provide a new warehouse, cold store and controlled drug store. This was a major undertaking for Jiten and the FLP team due to the regulations associated with pharmaceutical facilities. Therefore, FLP were looking for a partner who could not only supply the equipment and services they required, but also be on hand to guide and support them through the process.

The Solution / Outcome

Jiten spoke to various potential partners for the project and selected Biomap as his supplier of choice. Following an initial survey to evaluate the facility and identify any potential areas of risk, Biomap provided a temperature mapping study to map the new facilities.

Once the new facility had been temperature mapped, Biomap installed a permanent monitoring system. This system provides email and text alerts to notify Jiten of any temperature excursions, plus also a phone app which allows him to monitor the conditions in his facility from any location. FLP also subsequently purchased a -20c freezer from Biomap. This is used for the conditioning and storage of cool packs used for shipping temperature sensitive products.
