Case Study
LF&E
The Client
Established since 2008, LF&E Temperature Controlled Transport work for some of the largest pharmaceutical, medical, healthcare and clinical trial organisations in both the private and public sectors.
With an established head office based in Leeds West Yorkshire, LFE Temperature Controlled Transport are centrally located in the United Kingdom and supported by six regional locations, including, Newcastle, Runcorn, Featherstone, Glasgow and Forres in Scotland and Belfast in Northern Ireland.
As specialist couriers in the pharmaceutical, medical and healthcare goods markets, LF&E Transport are geared up for high compliance and service deliveries with dedicated vehicles just for these sectors, avoiding cross load contamination.
The Requirement
LF&E own a compact fleet of temperature controlled vehicles dedicated for the sole use of transporting Pharmaceutical products. This required the vehicles to be temperature mapped and Biomap were invited to propose a solution for 3 x Ford Transit vans that were all being used in dual temperature configurations.
The vehicles were equipped with a removable bulk heads and dual temperature control units to allow for the transportation of pharmaceutical products at both +5°C (+2°C to +8°C) & +20°C (+15°C to +25°C).
The Results
The protocol documentation was designed to qualify the 3 x vehicles in the chosen configurations. Empty & Full Load states were accommodated to demonstrate temperature performance under varying challenges to the airflow as well as a 2 hr power down test to document the impact on internal temperatures in the case of a power/control unit failure.
Biomap engineers carried out the installation process and also removed and collected the loggers once the tests were complete. LF&E staff carried out the load shifts and also the power down tests. Full reports with comprehensive analysis and recommendations were then submitted for review.
— Jason Buckley - Managing Director, LF&E Refrigerated Transport Limited“As a logistics provider predominately within the pharmaceutical & healthcare market it is essential that we fulfil stringent compliance requirements for transporting temperature controlled goods.
We previously carried out our own in-house temperature mapping procedures but made the decision to use an external provider to provide further assurances to our customers. From our initial research Biomap stood out, their knowledge and understanding of our requirements were second to none and they worked with us throughout the entire process with a friendly and efficient service.
The detailed data provided has reassured our existing and prospective clients that they are working with a logistics partner who takes temperature controlled deliveries seriously and can provide independent, fully audible temperature mapping data.
We will continue to utilise Biomap for our fleet and highly recommend them.”
